OHP Holiday Hot Food Initiative

Ohemmaa Palace Foundation Launches Holiday Hot Food Initiative for Washington D.C.’s Unhoused Community

This holiday season, the Ohemmaa Palace Foundation is extending its mission of empowerment and compassion with a Holiday Hot Food Initiative for the unhoused community in the Washington, D.C., area. Scheduled for Saturday, December 21st, at 12:00 PM, the event will provide hot meals, sweet treats, warm beverages, blankets, coats, and hygiene kits to those in need.

This heartfelt initiative is made possible through the culinary generosity of Sweet Treats by Nauni, Kiki’s Kitchen, and Ms. Whiskey, who will prepare the food and desserts. Additionally, we are proud to partner with NaAdowa LLC in organizing a coat drive, ensuring attendees have access to warm clothing to combat the winter chill.

To make this event a success, we need your help. We are seeking support from individuals, organizations, and community groups willing to lend a hand in various capacities. Whether through donations, partnerships, or on-site volunteering, every effort will make a tremendous impact.

How You Can Help:

  • Volunteer: We are in need of at least 20 dedicated volunteers to help set up, serve meals, distribute supplies, and connect with attendees.

  • Donate: Contributions of hygiene kits, blankets, and winter coats are especially valuable and will go directly to those in need.

  • Spread the Word: Share this initiative with friends, family, and community networks to rally support.

Call to Action:

To sign up as a volunteer or offer assistance, please fill out our Volunteer & Support Form today. Your involvement will ensure that we can bring warmth, nourishment, and hope to our community this holiday season.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference for those who need it most. Join us in spreading love, comfort, and joy this December 21st in Washington, D.C.

Toys Delivery

Ohemmaa Palace at VCU Hosts Toy Delivery Event for Housing Families First Shelter

On Monday, December 9th, at 3:00 PM, the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) chapter of Ohemmaa Palace (OHP) will bring holiday cheer to families in need with a special toy delivery event at the Housing Families First shelter in Richmond, Virginia. This thoughtful initiative is spearheaded by Whitney Ballagh, the chapter's Community Outreach Chair, demonstrating the organization's unwavering commitment to uplifting the community during the holiday season.

Housing Families First, a vital shelter in Richmond, provides families experiencing homelessness with the resources they need to transition into permanent housing. Recognizing the importance of joy and stability during the holidays, OHP has worked tirelessly to collect toys and other gifts to ensure the children at the shelter experience the magic of the season.

This event is part of OHP's larger mission to foster empowerment, compassion, and community support. Whitney Ballagh, with her dedication to community outreach, has collaborated with chapter members and supporters to organize a meaningful and impactful experience for the shelter's residents.

Through this initiative, OHP hopes to inspire smiles and create memories that remind families of the power of kindness and collective action. The event will not only highlight the spirit of giving but also strengthen the chapter's connection to the Richmond community.

Ohemmaa Palace at VCU invites members and supporters to continue contributing to similar projects and to stand with them in their mission of spreading love, support, and empowerment in every corner of the community.
