Crafting Stories of Strength, Resilience, and Women's Empowerment.
Our story
It all begins with a woman. Ohemmaa Palace is a beacon of magnificence, embodying a vision where women thrive and embrace their inherent strength. Our dream is a profound one—to establish women's centers globally, beginning in Ghana where "Ohemmaa" translates to queen. These centers are envisioned as empowering hubs, fostering education, health, and financial independence, creating spaces where women can flourish. Through Ohemmaa Palace, we are actively working towards a world where every woman reigns as a queen, empowered to achieve unimaginable goals and rewrite the narrative of her own destiny.
#IEWTIAQ
#IEWTIAQ, translating to 'In Every Woman There Is A Queen,' encapsulates a powerful and universal truth. This empowering hashtag serves as a rallying cry, reminding us that within each woman resides an innate strength, resilience, and regality. It symbolizes the collective journey of women embracing their worth, breaking barriers, and reigning supreme in their own unique ways. #IEWTIAQ is not just a tag; it's an affirmation of the inherent greatness within every woman, inspiring a movement where empowerment knows no bounds.
2020 - The Beginning
In the transformative year of 2020, Nana Appiah, driven by her entrepreneurial dreams and an unwavering commitment to community impact, found herself standing at the crossroads of possibility. Seeking a venture that not only fulfilled her aspirations but also gave back to her community, she ventured into her university library. It was there that her dear friend and Vice President, Baaba Jeffrey, became the catalyst for change, encouraging Nana to turn her aspirations into reality. Baaba, with her visionary spirit, coined the empowering slogan, "In every woman, there was a queen," and initiated the crucial process of interviewing potential board members. With a mere $60 in donations and a boundless dream, Ohemmaa Palace Foundation was born, a testament to the power of ambition, friendship, and the belief that every woman possesses the regal strength to reign supreme.
2022 - The Reflection
In the dawn of 2022, Ohemmaa Palace Foundation embarked on a meaningful journey in Sierra Leone as our dedicated Outreach Director, Umu Kabia, gave back to her homeland by providing citizens with essential resources to prepare a warm meal for the new year. As we marked a full year of giving and remarkable achievements, our One Year Celebration became a tribute to the hardworking board members and the much-anticipated launch of Eminence clothing. Closing the chapter, a successful fundraiser with the support of Chipotle paved the way for our annual contribution of canned goods to the Hilda Bag Homeless Shelter in Woodbridge, VA, on Thanksgiving. The introduction of the #IEWTIAQ hashtag, reflecting our proverb "In Every Woman, There Is a Queen," became a powerful tool to amplify our mission. Wrapping up the year, a heartwarming clothing drive received hundreds of garments, generously donated by the community, and were joyously given to children at the Osu Children's Home in Accra, Ghana. In every endeavor, we witnessed the collective impact of compassion, generosity, and the unwavering commitment to empowering women globally.
2021 - The Founding
In the spring of 2021, on April 2nd, Ohemmaa Palace Foundation was founded with a vision to make a meaningful impact on the lives of marginalized communities. Their journey began in Richmond, VA, where they initiated transformative efforts in collaboration with the unhoused community near Monroe Park. Their very first event, a donation drive, took shape through a remarkable collaboration with Davida Ntim, a passionate dance instructor. This event marked the inception of their commitment to creating positive change. As the year unfolded, so did their initiatives—ranging from a charity football tournament to a school supply drive benefiting schools in Prince William County. With each event, the Ohemmaa Palace family expanded, uniting individuals who share their dedication to empowerment and community upliftment. Together, they continue to grow, inspired by the collective strength of the OHP family and the impact they can create for a brighter, more inclusive future.
2023 - The Rebrand
In 2023, Ohemmaa Palace marked a significant milestone by establishing its inaugural collegiate chapter at Virginia Commonwealth University, aptly titled Ohemmaa Palace at VCU. Within a month, the chapter flourished with over 100 enthusiastic members. Noteworthy events included a Galentine's panel promoting self-love, a dynamic content creator workshop led by Zacharina, the founder of ZMoney Styles, and a spirited celebration of Women's History Month known as "A Queen's Speakeasy," featuring the talented dancer Alex Kadi. As the year unfolded, Ohemmaa Palace at VCU experienced remarkable growth, welcoming 200 new members, appointing 12 dedicated executive members, and initiating the empowering "Queen in Me" mentoring program. Their impactful activities ranged from a donation drive and a visit to the Ahamdiyya Muslim Hospital in Swedru, Ghana, to a women's financial literacy workshop led by Destiny Manns. The chapter also organized a donation drive for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, hosted their third annual football tournament, and capped off the year with a heartwarming hot food initiative in McPherson Square, Washington, D.C., feeding nearly one hundred people with the support of Feast with Filly and Riah's Grubz. Additionally, Ohemmaa Palace at VCU provided almost thirty unhoused individuals with handmade no-sew blankets created by the dedicated members.
SEASON IV: “INTO THE PALACE”
Season IV of Ohemmaa Palace, titled *"Into the Palace,"* symbolizes a new era of growth, unity, and empowerment for women within the organization. This season focuses on highlighting the unique contributions of each department through a regal and powerful representation. Each department is dressed in a designated color gown, symbolizing their role as queens in their respective areas. The season's theme is visually brought to life through a group photo capturing the strength and diversity of the team, as well as a video to be used in the season’s marketing rollout. With a focus on expansion and global impact, "Into the Palace" sets the stage for Ohemmaa Palace’s mission of empowering women to step into their roles as leaders, creating a lasting legacy of transformation.
